Karoline, long-time employee of Chance B, responsible among others for the development of the KomKom methodology and former project manager of the RAFT project, has decided to change careers and pursue new goals.
Therefore, this Tuesday, colleagues from different departments said good bye to her in a get-together in the glass house of Chance B’s organic farm. Among others, Anja and Priska of the RAFT project team wished her all the best for her future projects.
May all the good (and colourful) wishes that adorned the oak she got as a present accompany her in her future tasks. 🌳😊

The National Qualifications Framework (NQF) in Austria allows the assignment of qualifications from the non-formal sector. In 2022, Chance B worked on the project “KomKom III” in cooperation with the University of Klagenfurt. A qualification at level 3 of the National Qualifications Framework for the field of green space maintenance (practice-oriented basic training in plant cultivation and landscape gardening) was developed. Previously, in the predecessor project KomKom II, corresponding basic qualifications at NQF level 1 and 2 were developed by the two partners and assigned to the NQF. KomKom III now builds the bridge to an apprenticeship qualification (level 4). This enables individual competence development for disadvantaged persons against the background of a recognized standard. Chance B is pleased that we can now successfully close the KomKom III development in January. 💪

In the meantime, the European Year of Skills 2023 is almost two weeks old. 🤝
The European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) has reacted favourably, but also critically, to the planned measures within the framework of the EU Year of Skills 2023. EAEA calls for a holistic understanding, as both, work and life skills, belong to the European Year of Skills, and those that go beyond the labour market should also be included, e. g. personal skills that all citizens need in their daily lives, and critical skills to strengthen sustainability, democracy, social inclusion and community development.
EAEA emphasises that adult learning and education (ALE) is much more and broader than learning for the labour market and acquiring skills that are in high demand by employers. It promotes basic, transversal and life skills that are important for all aspects of life. Therefore, ALE itself is a very important factor for community building and cohesion by providing spaces of dialogue and inclusion and EAEA states, that these roles of ALE also need attention and support in 2023.
